The Rolex Awards were initiated 45 years ago to mark the 50th anniversary of the world’s first waterproof wristwatch – the Oyster.

The Rolex Awards are one of three parts of the Rolex Perpetual Planet campaign to support individuals who contribute to a better world.

Arnaud Boetsch, Director of Communications and Image at Rolex, said: “Rolex has long recognized its responsibility to create a sustainable, Perpetual Planet.
