Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said on November 10 that he had signed an agreement with Azerbaijan and Russia to end the conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh.

The agreement will take effect from 1:00 a.m. on November 10 (local time), aiming to end 6 weeks of fierce fighting between the two sides, leaving thousands dead.

“I made this decision after deeply analyzing the military situation,” Mr. Pashinyan said.

“This is not a victory but it is not a defeat either as long as you consider yourself a failure.

The Kremlin and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev later confirmed the above information.

`The signed trilateral declaration will become an important point in resolving the conflict,` President Aliyev said during an online meeting with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin.

Arayik Harutyunyan, leader of the Nagorno-Karabakh region, said he agreed with `ending the war as soon as possible`.

The ceasefire move took place in the context of President Aliyev announcing on November 8 that Azerbaijan had regained control of Shusha – a strategic area in Nagorno-Karabakh.

The fighting between the two former Soviet countries has raised concerns that a regional war will break out as Türkiye openly supports Azerbaijan and Russia has a defense treaty with Armenia.

Azerbaijan said that since September 27, it has regained control of many parts of land in Nagorno-Karabakh and the surrounding area.
