RT quoted Minnesota state officials as saying that Chauvin was arrested on May 29.

Chauvin and the three police officers involved were fired, but at that time they were still released on bail.

Chauvin was charged with third-degree murder and manslaughter.

According to RT, Hennepin County Prosecutor Michael Freeman is expected to soon announce charges against the remaining three former police officers related to Floyd’s death.

Floyd family attorney Ben Crump said Chauvin’s arrest was a `welcome` move, but they asked that the former police officer be charged with first-degree murder.

“We want first-degree murder charges (against Chauvin) and we want the other former police officers arrested,” Crump said.

A newly released video shows that, in addition to Chauvin choking Floyd’s neck on May 25, it seems that other police officers also pressed their knees on this black man’s body.

On May 29, the Mayor of Minneapolis signed an emergency order issuing a curfew from 8:00 p.m. the previous day to 6:00 a.m. the next morning on May 29-30.

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz admitted on May 29 that law enforcement agencies failed to control the crowd of violent protesters who committed arson and occupied police stations.

US President Donald Trump called the situation in Minnesota `bad` and emphasized that `justice will be served`.

Mr. Walz also publicly apologized to CNN’s journalist team because state police arrested and handcuffed black journalist Omar Jimenez on May 29 when this journalist reported on the incident at the scene.

Meanwhile, another CNN journalist Josh Campbell – who reports from a block away from Jimenez and is white – said he was `politely` questioned by the police and was allowed to continue working.
