Museum of Ethnology – Space of harmony
Established in 1997, the Vietnam Museum of Ethnology is currently one of the perfect destinations to explore and learn about the Vietnamese community of 54 ethnic groups, along with other ethnic groups in Southeast Asia.
The three display sections of the Vietnam Museum of Ethnology take viewers into three separate worlds, the first is the Bronze Drum building, which displays the theme of the community of 54 Vietnamese ethnic groups.
The exhibition space at the Bronze Drum building is arranged in a layout of 8 groups including: Viet – Muong, Tay – Thai, Han, Tibetan – Burmese, H’mong – Dao, Kadai, Nam Dao, Mon – Khmer.
The highlight in both architecture and current display content of the museum is the Kite building, officially opened on November 30, 2013 – a place to display the cultures of Southeast Asian and current ethnic groups.
Artifacts rich in folk culture blend into the contemporary space, that contrast enhances the value and highlights the beauty of the diverse cultures of the peoples.

The above details are just a very small display of the total 25,000 artifacts in the collection of the Vietnamese Women’s Museum – a museum with many breakthroughs, from the display space to the choice of themes.
Take for example the installation of portrait images, documentary films, and exhibits, in the story of using a Chaly motorbike to travel 35,600km through 63 provinces and cities to portray a portrait of a Vietnamese mother by artist Dang Ai
Throughout the exhibition spaces at the museum, whether the topics of life, religion, ethnicity, profession, creativity… are associated with Vietnamese history, gender issues, and social anthropology.
